Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Dele Momodu, says key members of the opposition party are dumping what he described as the “carcass” of the PDP for the newly formed opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, Momodu said the party has been weakened by internal crisis and is now being left for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and his associates.
“Without any doubt, people are leaving the carcass of PDP to Wike and his cronies,” Momodu said. “It was a prophecy foretold.”
Although Wike remains a PDP member, he currently serves as a minister in President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government — a position that has sparked controversy within the PDP.
Momodu also accused the APC of sending “moles” into the PDP and other opposition parties to destabilise them ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The ruling party does not want competition in 2027, so what they are doing now is sending moles into any major opposition party,” he claimed.
Momodu expressed strong support for the newly formed opposition coalition, which adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform for the next election.
He described the coalition as even stronger than the one that brought former President Muhammadu Buhari to power in 2015.
“I have never seen that kind of coalition,” he said. “Even when we were forming the coalition for Buhari, it was not this powerful. What I saw yesterday gave me fresh hope for Nigeria.”
He also took aim at the Tinubu administration, saying life has become harder for Nigerians since former President Buhari left office.
“At least when Buhari left, we saw what he left — no matter how bad. But today, it is much worse,” Momodu said.
